Lord, for we, the gospel Shepherds,

The sanguine and the brave,

Build in us resilient love

To freely give away His grace. 

Bless with wisdom strength and honor,

Not for fame, flash or glory,

Instead, open up our hearts

To the mystery of your story;

When we in pitch of night,

Hung together, cried.

May we take the lessons of that hour

Lift our cross, be satisfied. 

When morning of our soul’s travail

We face temptation, trials or grief,

May Jesus come and soon prevail

Comfort us in soul-relief.

Grant your holy strength to stand

After battles fought and won. 

Fill us with prevailing prayer

Against the onslaughts that will surely come.

When winds howl and devils laugh

And all that’s right feels like pain,

Remind that daily hope is sure,

For the Savior will come again.

Our lives surrendered, Shepherd King

We offer our shepherd’s heart,

May your love enflame our humble prayers,

Ignite the Love-gift you impart.
